About The Midland and Old Marple Bridge
The Midland is a traditional village pub offering great food, friendly service, real ale and a great outside eating area for warm days and evenings. Originally called the Hare and Hounds, until August 1876 when it was renamed by the new landlord Samuel Ardern as The Midland Hotel. It was named for the Midland Railway that had built the line, station and offices nearby, the railway having come to Marple in 1862.

Situated on Brabyn's Brow the pub is near Brabyn's Park and the large house built by Dr Henry Brabyn in 1750. The house was demolished in 1952 and Stockport Metropolitan Council opened the park to the public in 1947. We are also just a few minutes drive from the Derbyshire Peak District National Park, the second most visited national park in the world.
